BMC Toys: The Border Wars

BMC Toys founder Bill McMaster had planned on releasing the Buffalo Soldiers and 71st New York Infantry figures from the San Juan Hill playset in separate packs of powder blue figures around 2013. The project was dropped when he learned that the molds were lost in deep storage.  Thankfully, the molds have been located and repaired, so I thought I'd complete those projects, with the exception of maybe making the Buffalo Soldiers dark blue. While doing some research another possibility presented itself, a 'Border War' set. I believe the Buffalo soldiers, NY Infantry, George Berry and General Pershing (character figures)...

BMC Toys: WW2 German Secret Stronghold Prototype

It's been a while since I've been able to work on the BMC German Bunker Building, which Mike Kutnick suggested I call the German Secret Stronghold. That's got a pretty good ring to it, so I'm trying it out. The 3D printed prototype arrived just in time for the Chicago Toy Soldier Show last fall. It's been so crazy since then, I haven't had time to sit down and really play with it - until today. BMC Toys: Spring 2019 Production Roundup

It's been a while since I've posted a blog update, but the schedule has been so jam packed with production and stuff in progress I've barely had time to come up for air. Hold on to your  helmets... Let's start with the main BMC Toys product line, the 'American Hero Collector Series' that includes the D-Day and Iwo Jima Playsets. New restock production is in progress and scheduled...

BMC Toys: WW2 Bunker Building Project Update

We've made some good progress on the BMC Toys 1:32 scale WW2 German Bunker Building. The digital model is almost complete and should be ready for 3D printing a prototype soon. Here's the latest digital mockup of the project:I've made some changes and additions based upon customer feedback of the original concept art. The center of each roof half now has a removable insert. These will be a light friction fit and can be removed so troops have access to the roof with ladders. There will be 2 ladders that can be used from inside the building through the center...

BMC Toys: Plastic Army Women Project

BMC Toys: Plastic Army Women Project

I was recently asked a question that comes up every so often, "Do you stock any female toy soldiers?" Marx and Tim Mee offered Army Nurse figures decades ago, but I'm not aware of anything currently available, so I let the customer know we don't have anything like that in stock. Usually, that's the end of it, but this time the customer (a retired Navy Sailor) made a compelling case for why Plastic Army Women might be popular. I promised to conduct some research, and discovered there might be enough folks looking for Little Green Army Women to consider producing...
