BMC Toys: WW2 German Secret Stronghold Prototype

It's been a while since I've been able to work on the BMC German Bunker Building, which Mike Kutnick suggested I call the German Secret Stronghold. That's got a pretty good ring to it, so I'm trying it out. The 3D printed prototype arrived just in time for the Chicago Toy Soldier Show last fall. It's been so crazy since then, I haven't had time to sit down and really play with it - until today. Here's the building all put together: The walls are from a vintage BMC San Juan Hill Hacienda, and I think the color will stay...

BMC Toys: Spring 2019 Production Roundup

It's been a while since I've posted a blog update, but the schedule has been so jam packed with production and stuff in progress I've barely had time to come up for air. Hold on to your  helmets... Let's start with the main BMC Toys product line, the 'American Hero Collector Series' that includes the D-Day and Iwo Jima Playsets. An extra special thank you goes out to 'Uncle' Thor Sheil and his Army Men Homepage. Thor passed away this week, and he was a great friend and ambassador for BMC Toys. Our deepest condolences to his friends and family. Here's a summary of what's going on with current BMC Toys production. The container with the new Iwo Jima 72pc Boxed Playsets, Rough Riders bagged figure...

BMC Toys: The Russians are Coming, better Deploy those AA Tanks.

There's a lot of news, but I have to keep this post short and to the point. The latest BMC production order has shipped and is scheduled to arrive early November. It includes restocks of many popular items, the new upgraded Iwo Jima boxed set, and the Rough Riders vs. Spain bagged set. The production samples look great, and I'll be posting more about those soon. This post is about some upcoming additions to the BMC Toys 'Classic Army Men Collection'. Production is scheduled to start very soon for new USA Made recasts of the Marx WW2 Russian Soldiers and...

BMC Toys: WW2 Bunker Building Project Update

We've made some good progress on the BMC Toys 1:32 scale WW2 German Bunker Building. The digital model is almost complete and should be ready for 3D printing a prototype soon. Here's the latest digital mockup of the project:I've made some changes and additions based upon customer feedback of the original concept art. The center of each roof half now has a removable insert. These will be a light friction fit and can be removed so troops have access to the roof with ladders. There will be 2 ladders that can be used from inside the building through the center...
