BMC Toys Production Roundup: January 2024

BMC Toys - Classic Toy Soldiers Collection:

This month I'll be working on contents for the 3rd wave of BMC CTS to include Alamo and Civil War items estimated arrival this summer.  I'm planning a bagged set of 3 ACW cannon with 3 different barrel options in the package. Some restocks are estimated to arrive around Mid-February.

BMC Toys - American Hero Collection:

A lot of the Yorktown revival project development was put on hold to get the CTS line launched in 2023, so I'm looking forward to making progress this year. Digital model work was started for the accessories and waiting for my feedback, so we can get a running start this year. Some restocks are estimated to arrive around Mid-February along with the improved Jagdpanzer IV Tank Destroyers which will include long barrel, short barrel and tank commander options in the package. The front nose piece that was previously glued on has been integrated into the chassis mold with no change to the side view and minimal change to the front view. The barrel mechanism has also been greatly improved. Here's the 3 color variants:

BMC Toys - Classic Army Men Collection:

Some restocks arrived in December and some more should arrive around early February. The Louis Marx & Co. dairy cow stall and loading dock mold was tested out last week. I'm planning on offering the loading dock and the dairy stalls as separate 2 piece parts packs in Brown and Charcoal Gray. Here's a rare look at the 'full shot' produced by this ancient mold:

A lot of work was completed on the MPC DUKW molds over the past couple of years. It will be too labor intensive to assemble at the factory, so we'll have to create assembly illustrations and instructions to move the project forward. The DUKW sometimes included a wooden flagpole with paper flag that plugged into the deck. It turns out the Tim Mee Toy plastic flag pole is a perfect fit so we'll be able to include a flag with the reissue. The Louis Marx & Co. seated Marines are a great fit on the 3 'seats' even though they are a bit smaller than the original MPC figures. Here's some in-progress vintage inspired DUKW package art and freshly polished accessory cavities:

BMC Toys - Plastic Army Women Collection:

All color variants are in stock. I'm still considering adding a White color variant and a pack of OD Green & Tan medical and support figures next production run.

  • I use your stuff to make YouTube videos is it ok if I mention you guys, also I love the new more realistic world war 2 sets I’m about to order some keep it up and finally I think there should be a set with a U.S army medical team like how they had in the Pacific where the medics would get the wounded to the safest point on the beach it would have a few medics some stretcher bearers, wounded men, and a field hospital on the beach

  • Very cool. do you think you could try and remake the old Matchbox poses? I think it would be cool to see them return. cant wait for the new stuff to release.

  • Happy New Year, Jeff. Quick question, will the MPC DUKW have the brackets that are in the illustration? Thanks for your time and attention.
