BMC Toys: The Border Wars
Posted by Jeff Imel on
BMC Toys founder Bill McMaster had planned on releasing the Buffalo Soldiers and 71st New York Infantry figures from the San Juan Hill playset in separate packs of powder blue figures around 2013. The project was dropped when he learned that the molds were lost in deep storage. Thankfully, the molds have been located and repaired, so I thought I'd complete those projects, with the exception of maybe making the Buffalo Soldiers dark blue. While doing some research another possibility presented itself, a 'Border War' set. I believe the Buffalo soldiers, NY Infantry, George Berry and General Pershing (character figures)...
BMC Toys: Classic Radar Love

I've been working hard to expand the line of BMC Toys Classic Army Men products this year. The latest additions are the Louis Marx & Co. WW2 US Soldiers that include Marines, Seated Marines, Paratroopers, and large Raft with Oarsmen in 5 different colors. The good news is they look fantastic, the bad news is they're taking longer to complete production than anticipated. I'd planned to have all the new recruits ready in April, but now it's looking like we're into mid to late May, although some will start trickling into Amazon sooner: Since the current production is wrapping up...
BMC Toys: WW2 German Secret Stronghold Prototype
Posted by Jeff Imel on
It's been a while since I've been able to work on the BMC German Bunker Building, which Mike Kutnick suggested I call the German Secret Stronghold. That's got a pretty good ring to it, so I'm trying it out. The 3D printed prototype arrived just in time for the Chicago Toy Soldier Show last fall. It's been so crazy since then, I haven't had time to sit down and really play with it - until today. Here's the building all put together: The walls are from a vintage BMC San Juan Hill Hacienda, and I think the color will stay...

BMC Toys: Spring 2019 Production Roundup
Posted by Jeff Imel on
It's been a while since I've posted a blog update, but the schedule has been so jam packed with production and stuff in progress I've barely had time to come up for air. Hold on to your helmets... Let's start with the main BMC Toys product line, the 'American Hero Collector Series' that includes the D-Day and Iwo Jima Playsets. The fall shipment arrived over a month late due to port congestion, but the products were as popular as ever, and several popular items have, or will soon run out of stock. New restock production is in progress and scheduled...
BMC Toys: Turkey Day Production Roundup

Before we get to the good stuff (and stuffing), I just want to take a moment to say tanks' to all the friends, family, customers, and colleagues that make everything I do here possible. An extra special thank you goes out to 'Uncle' Thor Sheil and his Army Men Homepage. Thor passed away this week, and he was a great friend and ambassador for BMC Toys. Our deepest condolences to his friends and family. Here's a summary of what's going on with current BMC Toys production. The container with the new Iwo Jima 72pc Boxed Playsets, Rough Riders bagged figure...
